This app supports witness interviews for flight accident investigation.
Based on Augmented-Reality (AR) technology, the witness can place virtually the observed aircraft. Further the observed flight can be animated in real-time and recorded. The flight data is calculated by the app, providing latitude, longitude, altitude of the aircraft and timestamp.
The collected data can be used for accident investigation and accident report.
Further the gathered data can be used together with the other products / services provided by iwi® (www.iwi.eu) to perform flight path and flight accident situation reconstruction.
The animation can be recorded with the Apple screen recording that is available since IOS 11.
The app uses latest AR technology therefore the following minimum requirements are:
- IOS 11 or later
- iPhones 6s or later
- iPad 2017 or later
Function:
- Set dimensions (feet, meter) and airspeed (kts, km/h)
- 3D Models for Helicopter: EC135, EC145
- 3D Models for Airplanes: Piper, Cessna
- 3D Models for Military: T38 Talon, Antonov AN24, UH60 Blackhawk
- Show actual GPS position
- Place 3D model at three different virtual positions at different locations (if needed)
- Set attitude of 3D model at three virtual positions
- Virtual GPS location for each position is calculated and interpolated during animation
- Animation of flight path, interpolated between three virtual positions (linear or spline)
- Set observed time in seconds between virtual position 1 & 2 and 2 & 3
- Virtual TrueAirSpeed is calculated based on location and defined time
